The Keys have a relatively small full time population of just under 75,000 people.  Therefore The Keys do not present an attractive market for media companies.  Sure, with almost 4 million annual visitors the numbers appear larger, but who really reads the local newspaper and listens to the local radio on vacation?

 

Perhaps you are one of those people, so we’ve provided you with the following list of local newspaper and FM radio stations.  There are no TV stations based in here, that comes out of Miami.  If you enjoy watching the latest story about death, angst and high stress we will let you find those stations.  In The Keys, we prefer quite the opposite.

 

The two primary newspapers in The Keys is Key West Citizen, which is a daily, and The Keynoter, published twice per week.  They both do a good job for small town newspapers.

 

On the radio front we have two independent stations in Key West.  Pirate Radio 101.7 and Island 107.1.  Other popular and widely listened to stations include US One (classic rock) and Conch Country.

 

If you’re not in The Keys yet and need some sunshine and rum piped to your ears you can listen to most of these stations online as well as Conch Republic Radio (www.conchradio.com) coming to you from the heart of Old Town Key West on Fleming St.
